The perfect bow for Heddi

She’s in her early twenties, but her resume is already packed with years of experience.

Getting her first cello lesson at the age of six, Heddi’s first unforgettable musical experience was playing in her father’s children's orchestra just a year later. “I remember this period as one of the best times of my childhood. His dedication to educating and his love for music were unbelievably infectious, and I believe that at least half of us are still working in the music field today.” Getting workshops and playing concerts from a young age set her up for a promising career.

From the Conservatory and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance to the Barenboim-Said Academy Berlin and the University of Music and Theatre Munich (HMTM), where she’s currently studying Violoncello and Baroque Cello in the class of Prof. Kristin Von der Goltz. Next to winning several international competitions, Heddi is a scholar of the Unitel Musikstiftung and receives further support from the HMTM. She’s often seen as (baroque) cellist in chamber music settings, ensembles and as a soloist. In June 2025, she debuted in the  Philharmonie Berlin, playing with Berliner Symphoniker.

When Heddi reached out to us, she had already spent a while researching and trying out classical bows, hoping to find the perfect one matching her instrument setting and playing.

“In my opinion, it makes such a difference having the right instrument and bow from an early stage. It contributes to the development of your play and therefore your potential and career prospects.

Thanks to the help of Polytone, I have found the perfect bow, so the only thing left is to focus on my studies, develop new projects, and enjoy my own playing! I am very grateful for getting that opportunity.”

We asked what she would have liked to have known about a musical career beforehand, instead of learning it the hard way: “I wish someone had told me I will always need to buy two flight tickets as a cellist. I might have rethought that decision!” she says, laughing wholeheartedly.
